A 13th century campanile flanks the cathedral and provides stunning views of the city.

St. Michael’s cathedral and monastery complex also dates from the middle-ages and survived centuries of war and conquest until Stalin had it destroyed in the 1930’s. After independence, the cathedral was meticulously rebuilt according to original engineering and architectural plans and now stands as a monument to Ukrainian architecture and freedom; just outside the main entrance is

St. Andrew’s Church, built in the 18th century, is spectacularly sited on the crest of a hill, overlooking Podil and the Dnipro River. It is a masterpiece of Russian baroque architecture.

The Kiev Perchersk Lavra Cave Monastery is a large complex of churches and buildings, a bell tower and a cave necropolis, all located on 70 acres of forested park situated on a plateau above the Dnipro River. Views from the top of the bell tower are breathtaking.  Within the monastery complex is the famous and unique Scythian gold museum.
